We actually got to do some hiking while at Starved Rock. (If you call climbing stairs hiking) This was taken at one of the lookouts called Lover's Leap. It overlooks the Illinois river. It was such a beautiful sight.
I'm not sure if you can tell but this picture was taken looking down a "canyon" complete with a beautiful waterfall.
This was taken looking up at the waterfall from the bottom of the canyon. I can't get over how beautiful it was there. I seriously didn't think anything like this existed in the Midwest.
Going back into one of the canyons. The guy who took this picture was this very nice drunk man who was not wearing shoes, but was holding his mug of alcohol in his hand. Don't you love the random people you meet? PS Can you tell Mike and I are twins, wearing our camo shorts? We're such dorks.
One last picture. I thought it was a neat shot leaving the canyon. One thing I love about the Midwest is how green everything is!!! Mike is such a good husband to pose for me.
I'm so glad we took advantage of a free Saturday and went to Starved Rock. It was a breath taking place! Thanks to my good friend for the recommendation! This definitely helped to satisfy my desire to do something outdoors! Next time Kristyle needs to come so she can tell us all about the rock formations we saw. I think in my next life I would love to become a geologist or a meteorologist.

one word: jealous. I guess I can't be too jealous though living 10 min away from the nearest canyon opening. Still, that looks bueno, and to know you found that in the middle of the midwest, impressive.
keep up the good discovering.
