In 48 hours or less you can.....

In 48 hours or less you can....

Fly to Chicago. Meet your favorite friends and go to dinner.
Stay at one of your dearest friend's house, stay up late talking, then go out to breakfast at a place called the Cubby Hole. You can only imagine how good the food was. NO JOKE.
You can then drive 3 1/2 hours away to the middle of Illinois to a small town called Peoria, making a few very important pit stops on your way, such as....getting lunch at a 50's drive in called The Polk-a-Dot Drive In.
You can enjoy the sculptures of the classics such as Marilyn Monroe found at the Drive In. Mike especially enjoyed this one.
You can then make another pit stop to the annual Punkin Chunkin festival which is literally in the middle of nowhere.
You can revel in the excellent company of the festival and the pleasure that comes from pumpkins being shot out of cannons and catapults.
You can then finish your drive to Peoria, IL, change your clothes in a Taco Bell, attend a banquet honoring teachers of Illinois, catch up with old colleagues, and eat delicious food.

You can leave a banquet, drive 3 1/2 hours back to Chicago, sleep for 4 hours, catch a flight and be back in Salt Lake City, all in 48 hours or less.

It's slightly exhausting, but a fabulous way to spend 48 hours. I'm glad Mike had the time off to partake in this excellent adventure. We had a blast seeing old friends, and look forward to when we can go back,  but hopefully it will be for a little bit longer than 48 hours.

Awesome weekend Laura...did I mention I'm loving your hair right now?

And, weren't YOU one of the teachers they were honoring that night in Chicago? Yes, I think so.

Glad you had so much fun.

How about we meet at your moms at
3:00? The girls race at 3:30 but it's a little tricky parking and then getting to the starting line.

It was so fun to see you. It's crazy how the blog keeps us in touch and I feel like I talk to you all the time! I am so behind on my blogging...I barely get my books no there let alone anything else. I have to get caught up so I can get Halloween pictures up! I think you will crack up when you see what Chad is dressing up as for Halloween at Bannockburn. It's him, Debbie, and Whitman...any guesses? It's gonna be great! Jordan is dressing up as Elmo, all he talks about is Elmo so he had to be Elmo for Halloween. :)

Hey Laura,

Marc here. What was your award about? I didn't realize you were here for something cool like that. I thought it was just because you wanted to come visit! Tell me more about your award. Very very cool.

Oh my goodness! That's a busy 48 hours! Sometimes those are the best trips though. The bad thing is when you get home it's like you never went! :( Looks like you had a blast.

Please tell us about your award. Your blog is the only way we can keep up-to-date on your family. We love those 48 hour trips. We did them several times when we were traveling for Danielle's Punt, Pass & Kick compeitions. Every minute was packed, but well worth it. Also, when you have to travel with an ADHD child (Dusty, Dave and Danielle) oops, I guess that is three ADHA children (yes, even Dave) every minute of every vacation is packed. However, we are always amazed at how much we get done. Can't wait to hear about the award.
