I love my job as a second grade elementary school teacher, but at times it can be overwhelming and frustrating. I spend so many hours preparing and planning, some days the kids just don't seem to listen, some days I feel more like a nurse, police officer, or a psychiatrist than a teacher. Which makes me wonder, is it worth it?
This is a copy of an email I got from a parent of a little boy I have in my classroom. It confirmed the answer that regardless of how hard my job can be sometimes, IT IS totally worth it!
Hi Laura,
I hope you get this so that you can tell your friends and family about it.
We had my daughter Sophia's friend over for dinner (she is actually a first grader at Bannockburn).
As the children where discussing school she asked how he likes his teacher in second grade, he said to her: "she is like an angel that came down from heaven".
I thought it was really sweet and wanted to share that with you.
Have a Great Holiday weekend.
Kids can be so sweet sometimes.

That DOES make it all worth it. I had the craziest primary class last year and yet I loved them sooo sooo much. Last year at this time I would cry every Sunday after church b/c I was so sad that they were moving up to the next class. Well a couple of weeks after the classes changed one of the kid's moms came up to me and said that her little boy (Ethan) said he missed us as primary teachers- made my week! And...you are an angel! Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
oh my gosh. that is so sweet...and even sweeter is that the mom emailed you about it.
That is adorable, and definitely makes it all worth it. I wish I were "an angel" in someones life :)
You are an angel and I am sure you are an amazing teacher as well.
That is so sweet, Laura! I know that you are the cutest teacher ever. How are you doing anyways?? Hope all is going well!!! Talk to you later.
best compliment EVER! and it's true.
that is awesome. Isn't so true. Just to know someone thinks you are valuable or that someone believes in you makes ALL the DIFFERENCE in the universe and gives us such a generous handful of confidence that you can go foward with excitment.
Great post. You should read mine. It's the antheisis:))
bye now
**** sorry, in the first sentence there, I meant to write. "Isn't IT so true"... blah. 10 o clock ain't my graceful time for good grammer.
curse these tired hands.
