Friday was the our last night working at the Chicago Temple. We've had the privilege of serving and helping in the Chicago temple for almost three years. We've made life long friends (never mind they are the age of our parents or grandparents) and gained new perspective and knowledge. We will always treasure the Friday nights we spent there.
Mike and I signed up for a 5k and 10k for this past weekend. Although I was a bit sick, I decided to suck it up and run it anyway. The weather was perfect. It was overcast, in the 50's with a slight breeze. Mike ran the 5k and I ran the 10k. We both had our best times. But the best part of all was hanging out with our friends Chad and Jen, and their sweet boy Jordan. Jen also ran the 5k and killed it! Chad walked the 5k with Jordan. We had a blast hanging out with the Vincents. Thanks for running with us.
Saturday afternoon was the biggest event of all.
One word: ROCKBAND. I have a new found respect for musicians. We spent Saturday afternoon hanging out with our friends playing ROCKBAND. I won't tell you how long we actually played but I will say this, when we got to our friend's apartment it was nice and bright outside. By the time we left the apartment it was pitch black outside. Please don't be too disappointed in me mom, I did at least go running that day.
Mike was killer on the drums.
There were 5 of us playing together. It was like we had a real band! A bass, guitar, drums, and even a microphone for the singer. It was a blast. Have you ever played? If you haven't you've got to find a friend who has one.
All in all it was a fabulous weekend.

Ok, that is hilarious! I have never even heard of Rockband. Am I totally out of the loop, has it been around for awhile? Anyway, yes I too love David Cook. I would for sure buy his C.D.! I also like Brooke White, maybe that's a biast opinion because I think she can represent if ya know what I mean...Anyway love American Idol!
Thanks for your nice comment on my blog! So do you remember that I ran with you and your mom once?? Probably not... it was down immigration canyon in '04. Anyway I have ZERO experience with rockband - so power to ya!
Laura! It's Sarah from way back when...think DT and Centennial. I found your blog from Katie's and I just wanted to say hi! I also saw that you are reading A Great and Terrible Beauty...I'm on Book 3 and I love it!
Laura!
Congrats on the best 10K time. That is always a confidence booster to get a PR. Love it. I am so jealous ( a good jealous- kind of way) that you guys got to work in the temple! It's so cool. And yes, the church outside of Utah is def. a memorable experience. We can't wait for more stories to pile in. When do you move back to good ol SL? We should go to lunch again or go on a walk or something if we haven't moved yet (Julyish)... Enjoy your time there!!

That is so neat that you and Mike work at the temple every weekend. What a great way to spend your friday nights together. Also, good for you to run when you don't feel 100%. When do you guys move back to SLC?
Sounds like a terrific weekend! My niece just got married and I thought it was hilarious that they (her new husband and her) registered for ROCKBAND at Target! Too funny! You guys totally look serious as you were concentrating on the game...ha ha!
Good job on the run! Thanks for the motivational comments on my blog about the whole marathon thing. I do consider myself a runner...I love to run, it is totally a de-stresser. I swam in high school...but then took up running for myself in college and beyond...still, totally cannot wrap my head around running for 5 hours, but I figure if so many other people's bodies can do it...can't I train mine to also? And - you inspire me!
Enjoy your last few months of Chi-Town! We miss the friends we made when we lived out there everyday! But...the good thing is, we still keep in touch and always will...their family, you know?!
