As you know when my sweet Charlotte was born she had a full head of hair. I loved her hair. It flipped out all over the place and was oh so darling.
Then we all know what happened. She started to lose her hair. It started off with just one bald spot in the back, turning into a ring of baldness around her head, then she was pretty much left with two small patches of hair, one of top and one in the back.
She had random long hairs all over the place so Mike and I decided to bite the bullet and give her a trim. It has to be done and it ended up looking better than I expected.
Pic. 1: Before. Can you see the random long hairs? Pic 2: During. Unsure what is going on. Pic. 3 After. Check out that dark patch of hair.
Well I'm happy to report her NEW hair is coming in! Yay! Not only is it coming in but it's coming in BLONDE. What? Both Mike and I have such dark hair. What a surprise.
Click to enlarge any of these pictures. So soft and fuzzy. She still has a few long hairs in front that I just can't cut.
I'm loving the blonde peach fuzz.
Really this post was just an excuse to post more pictures of my babus. I can't help it.
I can't believe how different she looks from her newborn pictures! Man how they change!
PS Help! She takes 45 minutes naps.
Seriously 45 minutes on the dot.
Did your babies ever do this?
What do I do?

Hey Laura - I've never commented before, but I found your blog a little while ago. I lived next door to you our sophomore year in college and we VTed together during the summer, I think.
Your little Charlotte is so cute. Anyway, I don't know if you've read Babywise, but it talks a lot about babies waking up after 30-45 minutes and going through a lighter sleep. I recommend just letting them cry it out for 15-20 minutes and they USUALLY go back to sleep. It doesn't always happen, but I would try it.
I've had 3 babies and they all still nap for 2-3 hours each day. Long naps are a necessity for both of you!
wow lar you are so brave!it looks darling, how could she not though?
i don't know what to tell you about the naps, miller does the same thing, although sometimes he will sleep longer, i don't do anything different, i just think it is the baby. i go stick his binky in his mouth a few times but if he is awake he is awake and there is nothing i can do. i really wish babies came with a switch where you could turn them on and off like a light bulb. good luck!
So cute!!!! Jordan had a haircut pretty early, too. She's super sweet. 45 minutes naps...I remember Jordan going through random growth spurts here and there where he would wake up and want to eat again but then he would go back to going longer between feedings...not sure if that is related. We did the cry-it-out thing but not until he was 4 months. Sorry I don't have more ideas!
hi laura.
cute pics... they really DO change so much, huh? And never do you need an excuse to post pics of cute Charlotte. We all wanna see her! She's such a dear.
Henry went through spurts of 45 minute naps as well, coincidentally, around his 4-5 month mark too..
I can email more you deets, but I followed Babywise to the dot... it's all about consistency and schedules... after evaluating his feeding and waking up times (which were kinda sporadic), I put my foot down and started feeding him at the exact same time everyday (7am), waking him up at 7 if needed, and following a strict regimen of feeding and naps...exact times for everything every day... and it seemed to be the magic cure for us. He then fell into the lovely habit of taking more like, 60-90 minute naps, 3 times a day, at that point of his life... I have to say though, he's never been a super napper like a lot of my other friends' kids the same age, but it's ALWAYS been like that from day one... It's my personal opinion, and could be debatable, but some children aren't great nappers. I'm a terrible napper, for instance, and I think Henry inherited it a tad...I have a good friend back here whose kid is 5 years old and still takes a 4 hour nap... My other friend who has a 3 year old hasn't taken ANY naps for months... each kid does come wired differently with nap lengths....
Anyways, blah blah, let me know if you wanna talk more or have q's..
but Babywise is a great book to help...
xo
I love her cheeks!!! So kissable.
The book that was recommended to me was:
http://www.amazon.com/Healthy-Sleep-Habits-Happy-Child/dp/0449004023
They could change the title--Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Mom
Even though she still seems so little . . . you probably are starting to notice that there is a difference between a protest cry and true pain or trouble. Learning to distinguish will give you confidence. It is a PROCESS that is both challenging and rewarding. You can do it! You are doing a great job--she's precious!
all the advice i have for you about all this baby stuff . . . she needs to play with her cousins more, they will wear her out, promise (or just pick her nose the whole time she is over playing). it just might be the trick! love you sister, thanks for the phone call tonight, i think it was just what we needed.
Love the peach fuzz! She is just soooooooo kissable!
I would have had a nap answer for you when I was a young mom and thought I knew it all...hahahaha! Now that I'm an "old mom" I realize that I know nothing. Every child is different.
My only thought is that children take what they need. Mine were regular nappers, except for Erika. She never took more than a couple of short naps a day and outgrew them all together by the time she was two. It all equals out when they're teenagers.....trust me!!!!
What? Blond hair!!! That is what happened to my little brown hair girl!
I don't know about the sleep thing...other than you will wish for a 45 minute nap when she is two!!!
So cute! Oh my goodness I love those cheeks. I just want to gobble them up!
I agree with Beth on the naps. Ignore the protest cries. It is painful at first, but it quickly extinguishes in a few days. It's all about control- she has learned she has some. Look out!
she looks so different as a blond! oh don't worry, my bug takes naps too, but 3 hour ones. can i say dreamY? literally!
