Today was my last day of school. School was only an hour today. So silly to send children to school for such a short time! Regardless of such an absurd schedule, I must say I love my job. I am sometimes impatient, and often tired, but being a teacher is so rewarding. I have loved my kids this year. They are nice, well behaved, and so funny. Here are some of the funny things that have happened this year.
1. I have seen the BC of one of my students everyday this year!
2. One of my students tried to fix a hole in his pants by taping it. Kids are so creative.
3. After smelling his armpits one of my students commented, "WOW! That's disgusting. I smell the way my dad smells after he's done working." I love the honesty.
4. Another student then smelled his armpits and said, "I only like the way mine smell, but nobody else's." Once again love the honesty.
5. Busting kids pick their nose each day, even when they think no one is looking.
6. One of my students wears a retainer. I have received spit in the face many times when having a conversation with this particular student. So gross.
These are just a few of the funny things that have happened this year. It has been a wonderful experience teaching second grade this school year. I love my school and colleagues. But the best thing about my job is..... I HAVE SUMMERS OFF!!!!! Summer officially begins for me tomorrow and I can't wait!

Fun reading! Kids are crazy! How do you not just laugh out loud in front of them?
way to go Laura. i thought about you all day! you make a better teacher than me by far, for many reasons, but probably the #1 reason, i would totally just laugh at them all day - in their face. i am not real nice.
Trust me there are times when I do just laugh out loud. That why kids are the best, they just laugh with you!
YES! You are so lucky that you get summers off. I was telling Nick the other day that I definately did not make a smart career choice somewhere along the line.
What are you going to do with all your free time?
YAY! You survived another year! Congrats Mrs. Walker. I bet it feels great to be outta there, and on your way to SLC soon. Can't wait to see you!
