In the middle of March, Mike and I headed to Moab with some of my family for the Moab Half Marathon. It was an excellent weekend. The weather was warm and sunny, while Salt Lake was cold and snowy. It was so nice to get away and spend time with my parents, some of my cousins, aunts and uncles.
Aside from the dry heaving and nausea at mile 9.5 and 12 the race was ok. I didn't do as well as I wanted, but I still finished in under 2 hours and enjoyed the beauty of Moab.

The runners.
I love running with my cousin Annie. We used to run all the time before both of us were married, then we both got married and moved away. Now that we are both in living Utah, we have started running together again. She was a good friend and stayed with me even when I wasn't feeling too well. Thanks Annie, you're the best.
I was so happy to have Mike there with me the whole weekend.
Unfortunately, we didn't get to spend a lot of time in Arches National Park. Mike had never been to Arches so we tried to show him the highlights. Balancing rock being one of them.
Another highlight included this interesting rock formation.
I'll let you figure out why Mikey liked it so much.
All in all it was great to get away for a couple of days and spend some time together.
A couple of weeks after the Moab half, I ran the Sports-am Ten Miler down Emigration Canyon. The Moab half marathon was in the 60's, this race was in the 30's.
To be honest, I think I like running in the colder weather better.
I didn't so much mind running in the snow, wind and slush.
The race went well; much better than the Moab half.
If you live near the Salt Lake area this is a race to put on list of things to do.
It was well organized, well marked, well supported, a fun, laid back crowd, and excellent refreshments.
P.S. I have the best little sister. She woke up early Saturday morning, in the cold, to pick me up at the finish line since Mike was working and couldn't be there. I'm so lucky to be her sister.
So there's a little preview of what we've been up to. Hopefully more updates to come.

You and Annie really have been close... kind of like kissin' cousins without the kissin' :)
Look at that Emily freezin' just to support you. She really does rock. AND SO DO YOU! MIssed you at grandma's.
fun pictures! congrats on your races - you are awesome!
Oh how I wish I could have a waist like yours. You AND Emily are adorable.
I love Mike's sense of humor, it is exactly like Tyson's. I think those two would get along quite well. Want to take a trip to CA? We love visitors.
ah, the bum rock. what a beauty.
i am so proud of you and your dedication to your races. you are so determined and amazing ler. way to go in all that you do.
lar, you are amazing! seriously way to go on all of your races you have done and will do!
Congrats!! You are awesome! Just looking at your cold winter picture makes me so excited to live in Vegas and never have winter again!!!!
is it inappropriate for me to say that mike liked that rock formation because it looks likes boobs or a butt? probably, but i am writing it anyway.
so impressed with your runnin' skills. wish we were doing the wasatch back. maybe someother time.
Great trip to Moab--other than the run (ha ha)! It was nice to be with you and Mike. I'd say Utah weather keeps us guessing--you never know what you'll get on a Saturday in April!
Nausea and dry heaving...might you be pregnant? Just asking. You always look great, even at the end of your races. Emily is #1 at our house also...puts up with the boys and is a friend to Danielle. Love you guys.
CLARIFICATION:
Dry heaving and nausea from Moab half came from nerves/heat/food the night before...not from being pregnant. I PROMISE.
Okay, so maybe you could teach me to run. I have never seen someone smile so much and love running so much. I really like chocolate, maybe just maybe I could like running. What do you think?
You are the greatest ever!
When is Emily coming back to visit us at church?
xoxoxo
You rock... Im glad to hear the emigration race went well. Sure wish I could have been there with you. When is your marathon? I would say let's go running, but Im afraid 3 miles is my "long run" at this point- still I would love to go (sometime after finals:) Way to go!
