Preface I'm not a mom, so I know I don't "get" or "understand" a lot of things. Blah, blah, blah.
But I do know a sick kid when I see one.
When your child's face has a greenish/grayish hue to it, they feel light headed and sick to their stomach, DON'T SEND THEM TO SCHOOL!!!!!
They are guaranteed to throw up in the middle of the hall on their way to the bathroom, in front of a lot of students on their way to lunch, completing humiliating themselves, totally crying, and making the hallway smell for the rest of the day.
Please spare your child, your child's teacher and their classmates this traumatic/unpleasant experience. It's really not fun for anyone.
Can you tell the kind of day I had at work? Poor kid, I knew once she walked into my classroom it was bound to happen. My heart broke for her. Oh the joys of teaching!
Less than 4 weeks to go before summer! It can't come soon enough this year.

I had typos! I had to delete and re-post since I can't edit.
When I was a substitute teacher I had the worst day ever, kids swearing, no one listening, I was the 5th sub that week and it was Friday afternoon. The class was ready to go outside for recess and I was trying, and I mean trying very hard to get them to line up. A little girl came over to me to tell me something. I made her wait. She was trying to tell me she was going to throw up. She did, all over me. They had hot dogs for lunch. I beeped the office and told them what happened and said I was leaving. I dropped off the keys on my way out the door and they tried to get me to stay. HA! No way!! I dripped all the way out to my car, drove home with the windows open and threw away everything I was wearing, including my shoes. I cried all the way from the classroom to my parent's house, about 20 minutes away. I almost gave up on teaching that day. I wonder where that girl is now, she would be about 30!
I bet she hasn't forgotten about the day she threw up on the sub.
Oh man disgusting. Poor girl. And poor janitor. I think it's funny that you prefaced your post about not "understanding" because you're not a mom. Umm, no mom license needed. Yuck is yuck. However, I had a friend in Illinois who had two kids the same age as mine so we liked to play date a lot. Without fail I had to go through a checklist on the phone before play dates because she thought nothing of bringing kids to my house with pink eye or fevers of 103 or puking or well, you get the drift. After a year of play dates she finally caught on that I didn't like it and actually said how weird it was to her that it bothered me because "it doesn't bother any of my other friends." I didn't have the heart to tell her that people specifically avoided play dates if they knew she would be there. It's not a magic "mom" thing - it's a common sense thing and unfortunately some people just don't have it. The older I get the more I see that "common" sense really isn't that common. It makes me wonder what I'm a retard about that no one's telling me....
poor kid, poor everyone involved.
I couldn't agree more with you. I don't get parents that send their snotty sick child to school or church, only to contaminate all the other toys and children. Guh-ross! Let the poor child sneeze and cough and puke in the comfort of the their own bed.
Hope the day turned was up from there?
seriously? poor kid and poor you, i don't know how you made it through the day with the smell!
Everyday when the kids get home from school my first question is... "anything exciting happen today? anybody throw up or anything?" It's become a family joke! Lots of times they walk in the house and the first thing they say is, "no mom, nobody threw up today!" We're easy to entertain....hahaha.
bless your heart. you probably have the best/worst job in the world.
I agree with you Laura. Some moms seriously don't get it. I'm determined to try my hardest not to be one of "those" moms.
AH!!! I can't imagine. I've had Jordy throw up on me once and it was not fun...but at least it was my own kid!
that just stinks so bad. i would have hated to walk through those halls.
it makes me want to cry that that is all i could come up with for this golden post. better commenting next time.
girl, you are champ to put up with that.
So sad for you and for the little girl. Isn't it interesting how you really can tell when someone is going to throw up by the "green" look they get?!?
do me a favor and update your blog.
thanks.
