I'm busy

If you try to get a hold of me today and can't reach me,  THIS is why.
I'll be glued to my TV ALL DAY.

RIP Michael Jackson

OK, we know Michael Jackson probably didn't make the best choices in his life. And maybe his funeral doesn't deserve all the hype and attention it is receiving. But you do have to admit that man was extremely talented and he changed the music industry.
** What's your favorite Michael Jackson song?
** Do you think he deserves a huge tribute?
** Have you heard that people have committed suicide because of his death?

4 years

2 cheesy posts in 2 days. I'm on a roll!

I knew when I was marrying Mike I was one lucky girl, but I didn't know just how lucky I really was.  He is all I could have ever wanted in a husband and so much more.
Cheers to four years!

I still get excited to see you everyday.
I love the way we stay up late talking (even though 10:30 is considered late for us).
You make me laugh everyday.
I'm so glad you choose me to spend your life with.

One down..two to go!

Preface: This in one of those braggy blogging posts.
Today marks the last day of Mike's first year of residency.  He will no longer be considered an intern but a full on resident! (First year of residency is called intern year, even though it is part of their residency. ) I can't believe his first year is already over. It's hard to believe he only has two years left.  He has worked so hard this year and has excelled in every area.

Here are just a couple of reviews Mike has received from physicians he has worked with this year:
Dr. Walker was one of the best interns I have worked with this year. He is very thorough, applies evidence-based medicine, and spends extra time with his patients. He was very enthusiastic to be on wards, despite this was a pull week for him and he was trying to study for boards. He is an excellent resident.

Dr. Walker is in the top percent of his class.

Love you Mikey! You've done an incredible job balancing the crazy schedule of a resident while being a wonderful, husband, gardener, soccer player, golfer, brother, brother-in law, son and  faithful church member.

Bring on the next two years!

Do me a favor...

Preface I'm not a mom, so I know I don't "get" or "understand" a lot of things. Blah, blah, blah.
But I do know a sick kid when I see one.

So moms out there do me a favor please?

When your child's face has a greenish/grayish hue to it, they feel light headed and sick to their stomach, DON'T SEND THEM TO SCHOOL!!!!!

They are guaranteed to throw up in the middle of the hall on their way to the bathroom, in front of a lot of students on their way to lunch, completing humiliating themselves, totally crying, and making the hallway smell for the rest of the day.

Please spare your child, your child's teacher and their classmates this traumatic/unpleasant experience. It's really not fun for anyone.

Can you tell the kind of day I had at work? Poor kid, I knew once she walked into my classroom it was bound to happen. My heart broke for her. Oh the joys of teaching!

Less than 4 weeks to go before summer! It can't come soon enough this year.

A holiday for donuts?

Did you know today is National Donut Day? I had no idea this was even a holiday! I think I'm going to have to show my appreciation for this day be treating to myself to a donut. Maybe a chocolate chocolate donut, or a glazed donut, or perhaps chocolate with sprinkles. Mmmmm....What are you going to do to celebrate this fantastic day?

A different race

Has it really been almost a month since I have posted?  The weather has been so perfect I haven't wanted to be inside and blogging. I would rather be running, reading outside, gardening, spending time with Mike. However today I couldn't take looking at Mexico pictures anymore, it's time for an update.
Almost a month ago my girl Lacey and I ran participated in Race for the Cure 5k. I loved this race, it's a must do every year. I'll tell you why. For one, it's not competitive at all. People were not there to win the race, people participating were there to support an important cause. There wasn't even a clock at the finish line, which goes to show the real purpose behind the race. It was so cool to be there with so many people to show your support of the research for Breast Cancer. I was amazed at how many shirts I saw that said "survivor" or "running for my mom, aunt, sister, grandma". People were carrying banners/posters for family members who had passed on. Let's just say it was an emotional event and I would highly recommend you putting on your list of things to do. Whether you are a walker, runner, jogger, you really should do it.
Lacey and I before the race. I love this girl. Thanks for getting me to do it Lace!
So much pink in one spot. I love it.
This picture doesn't do justice of how many people were participating in the race. Thousands of people were there. Seriously. Click on the picture to enlarge it, you might be able to get a better look of how many people were there.

Can't wait to do it again next year...
